What to Do If You Get a Spotify Notice for Artificial Streaming

Receiving an “Artificial Streaming” notice from Spotify means that Spotify has flagged a track (or multiple tracks) due to what it considers to be fake streams.

You can review Spotify’s Guidelines for more details on what constitutes artificial streaming.

How to Avoid Getting Flagged

To steer clear of future notices, be very cautious about using paid services that guarantee playlist placements or streams through so-called “marketing” platforms. Chances are you—or someone working on your behalf—used a service or playlist that resulted in fake plays, possibly without realizing it. Unfortunately, even unintentional use of these services can trigger action from Spotify.

This issue can impact music from any distributor. It’s not specific to eMastered—we’re simply relaying the message from Spotify and haven’t received any other details beyond what was shared.

What to Do If Your Track Was Removed

Here’s the upside: if you’re not using suspicious promotion tactics, you can re-upload your track to Spotify with the same ISRC. This new upload will be assigned a fresh URI by Spotify, giving your release a clean slate.

If you want to report any promo service you’ve used, submit this feedback form so we can collect and forward that information. To flag any playlists you suspect of being involved in artificial streaming, go to: https://artists.spotify.com/c/playlist-reporter.
