How to Claim Your Music if It's Used as an Original Sound on TikTok

Sometimes TikTok users upload their own audio instead of choosing from TikTok's licensed music catalog.

You can identify when a video uses an original sound by tapping the sound icon on the lower-left corner of the video.

If you’ve enabled the Social Media Monetization, you’re eligible to request ownership of an original sound and link it to your official music release. To locate the link to the original sound, tap the sound icon on the video and then tap the share icon on the sound’s page.

If your song has been used as an original sound in more than 1,000 videos, you can reach out to our support team to request a claim.

Be sure to include the exact timestamp showing where your music appears within the original sound clip (e.g., 0:30–0:38).

This information is necessary for us to submit your request to TikTok.

Keep in mind: claiming an original sound is not the same as linking your music to your TikTok artist profile.
