What Setting Should I Use For EDM / Dance / House Music?

  • Updated

For dance music you'll likely want a tight, compressed track that is quite loud and sounds great in mono. This is because live DJing is a crucial element for EDM, and if your track isn't as loud as other releases it isn't likely that other DJ's will want to play your track.

For these reasons we recommend trying the "loud," or "extreme," volume settings, but make sure you leave enough headroom in your mix before uploading it for the mastering (a good range is from -3 to -6 dB of headroom).

I'd recommend using a lower stereo width setting, to ensure the low end sounds crisp in clubs and venues.
